Mike Meyer, Alpha (Owner) of Lofty Dogs tells me about his experience of living Downtown Saint Paul,

"I lived in Minneapolis since graduating college in 2000. In 2018 I moved to an artist loft in Lowertown Saint Paul shortly after starting my business (I'm a dog behaviorist and trainer, and love what I do!) here in the Downtown/surrounding area. I've now been here over 7 years and so enjoy the amenities and pace of the city; there's literally something for everybody."

"My artist loft is steps away from the farmers market, Saints stadium, The Mississippi River and more -- and I can easily walk to concerts at The Ordway and The Palace. It's GREAT. Convenient and so fun! There's always something to do -- lots of music, outdoor spaces, live/ free events, shows, restaurants -- you can find it all in (Downtown) Saint Paul."

Mike tells me what he hopes for the future of Downtown,

"I wish some of the vacancies would fill; there are too many empty buildings owned by the same person/ company. Regardless, I do believe the city will continue to grow and attract new businesses and tenants. People who live here love it!"

“We all care for each other (Downtown) and it feels like a big family. I'm always meeting new people and making new connections — with locals and visitors alike. I hope my business (Lofty Dogs) will continue to add value to people's lives…”

“I love that I bring smiles to so many faces (while out walking) with the beautiful canine friends I get to work with every day.”

Mike shares his favorite Downtown spots,
"I have a top THREE: The Palace, the Ordway and Meritage are all my faves. There are SO MANY good shows and so much good entertainment (local and otherwise) at both venues, and Meritage is top tier. Their service and food are exceptional. I always feel welcomed at all the Saint Paul choice destinations."

Mike makes the world a better place, "I love engaging with many passersby on our walks. We get a lot of questions and smiles and create some very special moments! We also pick up trash, recyclable items and other dogs' messes to keep the areas we walk cleaner and more beautiful for all."

I think The Hortmans would love this, Mike! Thank you for sharing your Saint Paul Story with me and all of the By a Thread Community.
