Komi Yovo, utility cleaner at Union Depot, tells me,
“I do floor striping, waxing, carpet cleaning, power washing and events set up.”
Komi tells me that his favorite things about Downtown Saint Paul are "the parks with all the green in Summertime, a lot of restaurants, transit hub and events space all over The Downtown."
Yovo continues “I personally didn't live in downtown St Paul before (Yovo hails from Africa), but I like the area because it's a place that has less violence than other downtowns. It is quiet place with clean streets with walks le distance. The recreation area near the Mississippi is a place my wife loves to come visit - She loves walking along the Mississippi River from Sibley & Shepard Road to the East Side.”
When asked how Downtown Saint Paul could be better and he said simply, “Maintain safe environment for everybody.”
Asked what role he plays in that he again responded succinctly, “Maintaining the downtown clean.”
As for Komi's favorite spot, it also happens to be where he works: Union Depot❤️ " Because it is transits hub, events center and a place a lot of people come to visit." Also, "My workplace Union Depot has a big view of the river."
